Proper Pronunciation Guide
evaluation
[i ˏvæɫ ju![]()
e͜i ʃən]
Tips:
- Pronounce the initial letter “e” like the name of the letter itself—/i/.
- Pronounce the second syllable like the woman’s name “Val” (which is short for Valerie) and give it a minor stress.
- Pronounce the letter “u” like the name of the letter itself—/ju/.
- Use the consonant glide /w/ to link from the third to the fourth syllable—from/ju/ to/e͜i/.
- Give the major stress to the fourth syllable, which with the linking /w/ is pronunced like the word “way.” In any word ending in “-tion” [ʃən] the preceeding syllable—the penultimate syllable—is always stressed
